ACADEMIC ADVISOR - PART-TIME (ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT)


Job Description:
The Academic Advising Department is seeking candidates for the position of part-time, Academic Advisor.
The role of an Academic Advisor is to assist students in developing educational plans to ensure their successful path towards graduation.
This includes:
Advising students in course selection appropriate to degree programs while taking into consideration career and transfer goals (both 1:
1 and group advising), interpreting institutional requirements, policies, and procedures, explaining general education requirements, and making referrals to other academic and student support services.
Additional duties include:
Coordinating advising programs for campus; Teaching students how to register Maintaining record of advisement and monitoring advisees' academic progress; Academic Advisors are also expected to represent the Department on campus-wide committees and provide outreach to the campus community.
The Academic Advising Department operates under a caseload model in order to provide comprehensive, holistic academic advisement to our student body.
Successful candidates will be assigned a specific caseload of students to manage in one or more of the following Divisions:
Liberal Arts, Business and Professional Studies, or Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of one (1) year experience working with and assisting students in educational development and academic programming in higher education including academic advising, registration, and student support functions is required.
Master's degree with experience in higher education is preferred.
Excellent communication skills required.
Successful candidates must be student-centered and able to collaborate with faculty and staff across campus.
This position requires the use of BANNER, MyCollege, Degree Works, and other student success technologies.
The successful candidates must possess the ability to understand and convey academic requirements for college programs and make presentations to classes and other groups.

Additional Information:
The hourly rate for this position is $28.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
