GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Performs variety of duties using a hands-on, supportive approach to ensure the proper planning, preparation and delivery of nutritious meals as directed by OASAS and the New York State Health Department.
Performs related work as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE POSITION:
This work involves the performance of duties and work related to OASAS approved guidelines for Residential Rehab and Stabilization Food Service.
The work is performed in accordance with policies and procedures established by Fairview Recovery Services, under the supervision of the Executive Director.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
(Illustrative only) Assistant cook to the food service coordinator.
Assists with the preparation of meals according to the menu.
Responsible for the upkeep, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas including all designated storage spaces, refrigerators, freezers, and any other perishable or dry stock storage areas.
Assist with preparation and clean up of monthly board lunch.
Assists with preparation of lunch and dinner for both Rehabs and Stabilization programs.
Helps prepare and clean salad bar station in both Rehabs.
Assist with the washing and sanitizing of dishes, pots, and pans.
Sweep and mop kitchen floors as needed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ANDABILITIES:
Knowledge and understanding of safe food handling and safety guidelines.
Ability to work effectively with public and private agencies and with the general public; ability to relate to the disabled; initiative and resourcefulness; tack and courtesy; integrity; good physical and mental condition.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Applicant must possess a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid, clean driver's license with less than three (3) points and good driving record.
Be able to lift between 10 to 20 pounds.
