What you will do in your role This role provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping and file maintenance in accordance with federal and state regulations.
The HR Assistant will be responsible for the full onboarding process for new hires.
Assisting new hires with background clearances, maintain employee files, upload and maintain clearances in State Database (OCFS), etc Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
Prepares new-employee and files documents into appropriate employee files.
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.
Processes mail for the department.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Performs other duties as assigned.
