POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Adaptive Equipment Specialists (AES) implement a program of design, custom fabrication, modification/adaptation, maintenance, and repairs of adaptive equipment for individuals with developmental disabilities. They assist the clinicians to provide individuals with optimal therapeutic positioning, function and mobility thus allowing maximum participation in habilitation programs and progress toward living and working in the least restrictive environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
o AES is responsible for repair and maintenance of wheelchairs in Broome DDSO. o Fabrication of adaptive clothing, bed sheets as well design and fabricate items for an individual's health and safety as well as environmental modifications (wall padding, bed padding, mechanical lift padding, etc.) o Collaborate with vendors as needed for purchases, inspections and repairs to lift equipment, hospital beds, and other clinical equipment. o Attends and participates in Wheelchair Clinics as requested, providing input on seating and positioning. o Maintains records of completed work to accurately reflect use of materials and manpower. o Stays current on new developments in adaptive equipment and maintains a good working relationship with durable medical vendors. o Attends department meetings and in-service training as appropriate. o Ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies and equipment. o Prioritizing work based on critical needs

Salary Range:
From $49202 to $62806 Annually
Minimum Qualification
o Candidate must have two years of experience designing and manufacturing adaptive equipment; or two years of skilled experience in carpentry or a related trade, one year of which must have been designing and manufacturing adaptive equipment for individuals.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
